Thanks for that last picture. I had wondered what the "stray" cage nut on the right cowl support was for. Now I know.

Also gave me a good look at the bottom of the cowl support. Mine has vaporized.

Cowl Support

If it gives you any hope, My floorboards looked similar to yours. Those are new floorboards from midwest mil and the support bottom is a fab from what was left similar to yours.If you look close you can see the weld lines where the bottom of the support was fabbed in. I copied the drivers side for the shape. I got the channels from midwest also but the M170 has them in a slightly different fashion. Had to tac them on, put the body in place and re-adjust and trim the supports. The floorboard on the passenger side also is different and took some custom fab work to get them in. I think if they were put on a M38A1 they would have been really easy. As it was, it was very nice to have something close to use on the M170.
