Are all rusted out. I talked to John from Midwest Military, and he doesn't make them. Does anyone, or is this a fab job?

They are called "Toeboard gussets" Have you checked with Classic Enterprises and the MD Juan listings?

Classic Restorations was a good tip, thanks Wes. They do have toeboard gussets, but the closest they have is a 1975-1995 CJ5. They aren't much help otherwise, as they give no info other than "If it's on our site we have it. Otherwise, we don't. I emailed MD Juan, but no response yet.
I know the later model CJ5 toeboard gussets are a solid piece of metal, whereas the M38A1 pieces have a large hole through the center, but would they work otherwise?

What works will require an answer from someone who has substituted one.
Your choice for a replacement is any 1955 thru 1971 CJ5, CJ6 or any 1952 thru 1971 M38A1 or 1954 thru 1968 M170. I would concentrate on advertising for a donor tub from one of these listed models.
For a fellow with a wee bit of metal work experience that one you have is easily repairable.

If you do end up buying anything off MD Juan, a word of caution: get them to send you a photo of their part, and be sure to attach the same photo to your email when you place your order.I emailed MD Juan, but no response yet
From a recently shafted MD Juan ex-customer.

I have a '54 M-38A1 body that has both gussets on it, they are in good to fair condition... I have already taken them off the tub, as I need the panel under the toe boards on the drivers side.; so while I was pullingthe part I need I pulled the toe board gussets.
I am going to ask $30 for both plus $10 shipping, you have first chance...
Contact me off line if interested...
