m38a1/m170 valve cover color

Is the valve cover Gloss, semi, or flat black for the m38a1/ m170?

They are black with a Hurricane sticker on all the period pictures, but on the field in real life...

Not certain on the finish, but I would guess semi-gloss. If the OD on your engine is semi-gloss, it would seem to match ok.....
