I got an oil pressure gauge from Midwest Military

Post by Deadguy »

and it was broken. John said I could return it "once". The one he sent me to replace it is rusty and a bit beaten up, but the spring in it isn't broken. I hooked it up, and when I turn on the ignition, it instantly goes over to 60. I would take it that means it is grounded. I don't know if it's the gauge or the wiring out to the sender. Maybe if I unplugged the wire from the gauge, and say if the gauge was still grounded at the port, or if the wire was, I could place the blame?

In the "Downloads" section of this website, under "M38 M38A1 M170 M606" you will see the link "Electrical", click that and go to page 2 of that section. There you will find "Military 24V Gauge Trouble Shooting". Go through the steps there to isolate the problem. Then you can take the appropriate measures.

Have you put a test gauge at the same port you have the sender to determine the actual pressure?

Yes, I have pressure, and the sender isn't grounded. The gauge terminals, however, are.
