New to M38A1...need help with restoration questions.

Post by Probs »

Just purchased my first M38A1. Have statered a frame off restoration. Beyond not finding a serial number anywhere on the body or frame I cannot find a way to remove the headlights. The three adjustment or retaining screws come out easily but I don't know how to remove the bezel or bulb. Don't want to break anything! Any help would be appreciated.

Also anyone think they could identify my vehicle's year by pictures? Again no serial numbers or title. The guy I bought it off of had it sitting in the woods for years.

should be 3 screws on the face of the outer ring that hold it on. Once that's off theres a trim ring holding the bulb in. If you loosten the 3 tiny screws holding it, it should rotate a bit and there's key shaped holes to remove that ring. The bulb should then literally fall out. This all depends on what changes the previous owner made.
