M38 Carb Base Gasket

Post by bbloom »

Is the gasket between the carb. base and intake manifold on a M38 suppose to have the difuser on it or not?

The thick gasket base helps keep fuel from boiling.
The diffuser does just that-spreads the fuel into the
manifold rather than dumping it in one spot.
keep 'em rollin'

The diffuser helps atomize the fuel better when the engine is cold and RPM is low. The thick gasket is a must and the diffuser is a should have if you want better throttle response and smoother engine operation when the engine is cold at low RPM. All the L134's use this gasket with diffuser. The problem is the modern carb overhaul sets do not include them. They are still available at a few vendors.
