starter problems

the starter has been tested, installed on an new engine but the starter seems to drag enough to where it's not turning the motor fast enough to start. also the starter get pretty warm and smoke comes from the nose.

do i have a ground problem?? thxs

If the starter was properly tested IAW the manual and passed both RPM and stall test and passed a quality internal inspection then I would suggest your newly assembled engine is way to tight. However a missing ground strap at the right front engine mount could raise the resistance high enough to cause your symptoms.

wesk, i have no idea how the starter was tested!. all i knw is he said it test ok. i can almost garantee the motor was put together correct by bthe manual. im tested it again tonite, wish me luck!!. thxs
