Right Rear Spring Shackle trouble. Need help

Post by army_inc »

I was working on the Jeep yesterday and I was able to remove all of the spring shackles except for the right rear. I couldn't turn the nut. I've PB Blasted, removed rust, everything one could think of to get it out. Finally, I had to cut the nut off. Now clearly, the nut also has a shaft attached to it and extends into the frame/spring shackle bracket. when looking it at, it looks like the grease hole has been somehow not been placed in the center of the shackle which leads me to believe that somehow, this shackle was destroyed before I even tried to take it off. Is there any way I could press this part out? I've tried a punch and hammer... that didn't work. Anyone have any ideas? Or would it just be easier to cut that bracket off and replace it with another one? Thanks for the help.

Get her cherry red with the torch and drive her out with a long barrel air chisel.
