Hey guys,
I am about to mate the T-90 transmission bellhousing to the back of the F-134 engine and before I do, I was wondering if anyone knows about a gasket that is supposed to go in between? I have looked at the different downloads and my manual that I have at the house and I can't find anything that says I should.
Anyone have any answers? Where I can find it so I can buy it?
If there is no gasket, does anyone have any tips on mating the bellhousing and engine?
Thanks,
Mike

The gasket came with my gasket set. I'm sure you can buy it from one of the main dealers, or order it from a parts store. I didn't use mine (can't recall why), and have had no problems - I would imagine they were used to provide a water tight seal for fording?

There are gaskets listed in the ORD 9 for both front and rear sides of the bell housing adapter plate. Yes they were for fording sealing. The jeep will do just fine without them unless you want the fording system functional.
Don't forget there are two dowel bolts to insure accurate positioning of the bell housing. Don't forget the two reinforcement angles at the bottom front side of the adapter plate and the angle that goes above them against the oil pan to block mating area.

Thanks for the tips guys! I feel funny asking but I think this is it!

Also, Wesk, I am in the process of getting all the different bolts for the engine. I have all 10 of the originals, with those two long dowl bolts. I am trying to get new bolts since the originals are worn down. I do have questions about these "angles" you are talking about. I will take pictures before I attach them together. Going to team training for the next few weeks, so it will be a bit.
Thanks again,
Mike

Sorry Mike but that gasket goes between the front engine mount plate and the front of the engine block.
The two gaskets that seal the rear bell housing adapter plate to the tranny and the REAR of the block are:
Willys # 804337 Gasket, bell housing to rear engine plate
Willys # 804379 Gasket, cylinder block to rear engine plate.
These are found on page 38 of the 1956 ORD 9 SNL G-758 parts manual.
The three angles were just discussed in an earlier post thread.

I did not have the two smaller brackets on my M38, and also was not aware that they existed. Thanks to Wesk, I learned about them and was able to get them from Midwest. The longer bracket has a rubber gasket vulcanized on it, my rubber was in bad condition so I got that one from Midwest as well.
Regarding the gaskets, I cut them by hand from gasket paper. Punched the holes with hand punches (2 sizes). It was not a big job, quite fun actually and it looks OK.

When fabricating these two gaskets be sure to use the very VERY THIN
gasket paper. Thicker paper will result in a recurring problem with the bell housing bolts coming loose.
