SUCKING OIL

UP THROUGH THE DIPSTICK !!!

RAN 6 MILES TO THE LOCAL BS STATION..SAT AROUND BS-ING FOR 1/2 TO 45 MINUTES IT WAS HARD TO START BY THEN FROM SITTING..
HEADING HOME STARTED MISSING SO I PULLED CHOKE OUT ABOUT 1/2 MOTHERED IT HOME , GOT IT HOME AND THERE WAS OIL IN THE SHORT X-OVER TO CARB HOSE AND THE CARB WAS FULL OF OIL..

I CLEANED IT ALL OUT ..STARTED SEARCHING AND DONE THE FOLLOWING

CLEANED UP AND REPLACED 24 VOLT PLUGS RE-GAPPED @ .30
CHECKED TIMING & DWELL SPOT ON
REPLACED POINTS CONDENSOR COIL ALL WITH NOS STUFF I HAVE HERE

CHECKED PCV VALVE --CLEANED IT OUT
CHECKED COMPRESSION 106 104 105 101
CHECKED OIL LEVEL JUST A KISS UNDER FULL MARK
CLEANED OUT AIR CLEANER NO OIL WAS BEING SUCKED THROUGH IT
NOR WAS IT IN THE LONG HOSE FROM AIR CLEANER TO X-OVER TUBE

M38 IDLES @ 32 LBS PRESSURE

IF I REMOVE THE SMALL RUBBER HOSE FROM CARB HORN TO X-OVER TUBE REV UP THE ENGINE I CAN SEE OIL PUSHING OUT INTO THE X-OVER TUBE & PUSHING OUT THE TOP OF THE OIL TUBE ..38 STILL RUNNING FINE NOT SMOKING BLUE OR WHITE
I CAN PUT MY HAND ON THE TOP OF THE OIL TUBE AND FEEL IT HAS PRESSURE PUSHING AND MY HAND IS BLACK WITH OIL..

I GIVE UP WHAT AM I MISSING OR WHAT DO YOU GUYS & GAL THINK IT COULD POSSIBLY BE ????

I HAVE BEEN TOLD IT IS VERY POSSIBLE I HAVE A BUSTED COMPRESSION RING..ALSO TOLD IT COULD BE CRACKED VALVE..???

MY SIDE-KICK IS NO LONGER WITH ME SO I AM OUT OF OPTIONS AS TO WHAT TO FIX NEXT ..HE WAS THE MASTER OF THIS STUFF AND IS NO LONGER WITH US..HONESTLY THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER HAD EVER SEEN THIS HAPPEN ...
I WAS RUNNING THIS ABOUT 7-15 MILES EVERY COUPLE WEEKS AND IT RAN FINE.ALL I DID WHEN I BOUGHT THIS WAS GO THROUGH IT ,,HAD THE CARB, FUEL/VAC REBUILT FROM THEN & NOW , REDO THE GAS TANK AND REPLACE THE BATTERYS IT WAS RUNNING FINE UP UNTIL LATE THIS AFTERNOON...

ANY HELP OR IDEAS ...THANKS

Check the oil level on the dipstick. If it is over full, you most likely have a bad fuel pump and you should not drive it any longer. Smell the oil, if it smells like gas, stop. You will need to rebuild the pump, drain the oil and filter and change them.

AS I STATED JOHN IT ISNT BUT TAD OVER FULL..OIL DOES NOT SMELL LIKE GAS I EVEN TOOK A LIGHTER AND LITE IT ON THE DIPSTICK TO SEE IF THERE WAS A FAINT FLASH..NOTHING ...


I WILL DRAIN IT TO CORRECT LEVEL WHICH I WILL BET ISNT A PINT TO REMOVE..SOMETHING ELSE IS GOING ON ..I HAVE CHECKED ALL VENT LINES ALSO THIS HAS THE FORDING KIT ON IT BY THE WAY

Check the PCV valve and line to the PCV valve,could be plugged and not taking care of the blow-by and that is the only way that pressure can escape other than blowing a seal. just a thought.

Sounds like you have your fording valves are closed and you are pressurizing the crank case.
CHECKED PCV VALVE --CLEANED IT OUT
Do you mean you found the PCV valve plugged up or just that you cleaned as a precaution?

FORDING VALVES ARE OPEN AND HAVE BEEN..I JUST TOOK THEM APART TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE CLEAN

Then severe ring wear and blowby are the next choice. But your compressions readings do not seem to indicate that. Were your readings taken with the engine at operating temps and the choke and throttle plates wide open?

Did you remove the vent adapter from the side valve cover and confirm it is not plugged?

GIVE WES K 5 STARS TODAY !!!!!!! THAT VENT WAS RUSTED SHUT ..

IT IS NO LONGER ATTACHED TO THE M38 ABOUT THE TIME I REMOVED THE VALVE COVER MY NEIGHBOR WHO IS 78 SEEN THAT FUNNEL LOOKING THING WAS FULL OF RUST A;ONG WITH THE PCV TUBE WAS ABOUT 1/2 FULL TOWARDS THE PCV VALVE..

RUNS LIKE A CHAMP ...ONCE AGAIN THANKS WES IT THE LITTLE THINGS THAT DRIVE US NUTS WITH THESE JEEPS !!!
