M38a1C rear end data plate

Post by Claudio »

Hi all,
Does anyone have a close-up picture (or a standard text) of the M38A1C rear corner end placed instruction data plate for operating the M40, 106mm recoiless rifle?
Who may reproduce this plate?
Hints welcome.
Thanks!

This plate looks like one from a M151A1C.
Do M38A1C´s have those plates originaly?

Depends on what you mean by originally. They left Willys as regular M38A1's. The Army and Marines did their own depot level conversion of the M38A1's to M38A1c's. They came with those plates from the depot modification center and the plates were include in the conversion kits used to convert M38A1's in the field to M38A1c's.

Dear Wes,

I know, that the M38A1 left Willys as A1´s and that the A1C´s where conversions by the Army or Marines.
I mean only the Dataplate. The one on the picture above is one from a M151A1C and correct me, if I´am wrong, not for a Willys M38A1C.
I could not belive, that the Army will add a dataplate from a different vehicle with wrong weights and dimensions.
The plate above look like it was " redisigned" in the first line.
note the rear weelhouse on it.

Here is a plate from a M151A1C ( the same as pictured above)

So I ask again:
Was there a dataplate for a M38A1C out, or do they all use changed dataplates from the M151A1 or M825?
I have owned a unrestored M38A1C ( only without the gun and mounting).
She neither has the holes on her back, where the Dataplate where be once.
She don´t have one. Not on the back or like the M151A1C on the inner weelhouse.

sincerely
Frank
( sorry for my english) I do not use it so often.

Dear Claudio,
the dimensions of this plate are 24,4 cm x 11,9 cm.
Here is a better pic of my plate.
Hope this helps.
