Other PTO's used on m38's

Post by Bill_F »

What other PTO's Where used on the m38? A guy a know just bought an m38 that has a pto on it that is set up with pulley like the cjv35u. It also has a very factory looking skid plate. you can find photos of the jeep at http://affordable-beemers.smugmug.com/T ... &k=Cck5DJm

If anyone is interested in the pto let me know as he will sell it.

Production M38's by Willys only the Ramsey 105. In the field only God knows what could have been stuck on the back of the case. With varying levels of funds, ambition and ingenuity any PTO could be fitted.

What gets me is the skid plate for the pto. It looks factory made. The jeep does have the floor cut out above the pulleys just like a cjv35u but does not have the cast part that the cjv has. The cargo area has no extra holes drilled in it for mounting of radios or any other equipment.

Back in the 90s I bought a stillage full of 'jeep' stuff from a Belgian dealer, it was ex USAF suff, lots of it still in blue paint.
It contained (amongst other stuff) two civvy Ramsay twin PTO's and Agri jeep type rear PTO drive box. About two sets of Hi-Lo hydraulic tanks and pumps, two govenor sets. And a belt drive for the PTO.

I still have some of it, though I've never gottten round to fitting it.
