Hi All
I am making my own wiring loom for an M606A1 this is in 12 volts, has anyone got ideas about the size of wire needed i.e. 1.5 or 2.5 mm cable etc or is there a list somewhere that one could use that identifies the cable required. Any help would be appreciated

Hi Ryan
I know I can buy one over there, but it is the cost that is the stumbling block I can get my hands on all the cable I need at work which is why I am going down this path.

Most all military wiring is 14 ga stranded copper, for the majority of the cabling... The feeds from the regulator are heavier, maybe 8 ga and the battery calbles are 2 ga.
This is what was on my M-38 and the wiring on the M-35s I drove in the military...
All wiring is a black neoprene type covered wire...
Ok I have just heard about the Painless Wiring looms out there in USA, so can anyone tell me what they are like, are they any good and what sort of price

Get one from Vintage Wiring... very easy to follow instructions and believe me they give you plenty. It is worth the time and effort ....And the $$$$...
im on the same path as you when it comes to the wireing
Home made.
I just cant afford a V. wire one for my M606/CJ3B
Just take a look on a modern car they usaly use .75mm2 that can give you a hint what you need.
The one im building is based on 1.5mm2. (12v system)
Im also add some fuses and relyas (for the head lamps), not orginal but I feel more safe with fuses here and there
The M606 series use the standard civilian version wiring. The blackout lamps have Douglas connectors splice to the civvy harness. So disregard references to the standard military wiring gages as these apply to 24 volt systems and not your 12 volt systems. Where 18 Ga is used in an M38 16 Ga would be needed in an M606 and so on. Also you'll be using colored wire. So lighting circuits and instrument circuits would be 16 ga for all but the power feed to the switch and the feed to the headlight dimmer switch which would be 14 ga. Battery cables would be 6 ga. Amp meter and ignition feeds would be 14 ga. Main heater blower feed would be 14 ga. Alt/Gen/Reg power feeds to accessory fuse bloc and to battery or starter and to amp meter would be 10 ga.
