M38A1 Front Spring modification

Post by timjuhl »

Both of my parts jeeps have the front spring modified by flattening the ears on the rebound clips that are located beneath the tie rods. The springs I put on my Jeep are not so modified.

Are the rebound links in that area a common source of interference with the tie rods so that I should modify those on my springs?

Thanks!

Tim

Shouldn't be a problem. As the spring, axle and everthing moves up, so does the rod.

I truly believe you have a 'Bubba mod' there, lost the bolt and spacer, so just made it look like the others! I had the same thing on my M38 from Virginia.

And after all the trouble I went to to fabricate new spacers and install them!

Sorry, Bubba, I falsely accused you (twice) :)

You guys read my mind! I was looking at my M38 in front and it too has the bent over clips and thought who was so stupid to do that! Interesting! Thanks! John

Mine are also bent over. The bends are very consistent as if some sort if jig was applied??
