Starter question

the 12v push pedal starter and 124 flywheel teeth are pretty damaged and i want to switch back to the original 129 flywheel that came with my m38 engine so i can switch back to 24v eventually. the only starter i have around is a 12v autolite mdu7004. it came on an industrial l head with a 129 flywheel. It should work right?

Yes an MDU 7004 will work with a 129 tooth flywheel starter ring gear per the M38 Reference Guide by Ryan Miller (page 98).
