Drag link question

Post by 32sbct »

Below is a picture of my original drag link next to the new drag link I ordered. You'll notice that the original was a greater diameter and has two bends in the bar, about 6 inches from either end. I'm assuming that the new one is a functional replacement. My question is which end of the new one goes on the pitman arm and which end goes on the bell crank? I'm assuming the end with the bend goes on the bell crank and the straight end goes on the Pitman arm. Originality is not an issue. Your thoughts? Thanks.

Please disregard. I took a better look at the original. The end that has the greater distance between the hole and the end of the drag link goes to the pitman arm.

If it was me, I'd clean up the old one and put the new cups and guts in it. The repro looks way off. 8O John

The repo looks like an MB rod.

Yes, I agree. I think I am going to clean up the old one and rebuild it. The length from hole to hole is basically the same but there is no doubt that they are different. I already have a rebuild kit so I'll spend some time this weekend and get it done.
