Being that I have acquired a M38A1 and am currently restoring it, I was driving home and noticed this trailer on the side of the road advertising "Wood for sale" I don't know much about trailers, but from what little research I did do, it doesn't seem like a bad idea to get one and restore it. My questions is this. Since I don't know much about trailers, what is a good price to offer this gentleman if he wants to sell it (I plan on calling him and asking if he'd like to sell it)? Here are some issues. The Tub has some rust/rot and has eaten through it so there are some holes. I'm sure there are dents and things on the bottom, but I haven't crawled under it to find out. There is no rear gate on the tub to make it water tight anymore (as seen in picture). I didn't find any data plates. Any idea what kind of resto this would require and where can you buy replacement body/tub and parts? It still hass the rear lights and I think one blackout light. Not sure if it is supposed to have two or not? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.
Posted below is the link to g503.com I put that there so I could have a link where the pictures are. I just didn't want to take up space on the server. If I get it, then I will post those pictures to my photo gallery and show that restoration as well. Thanks guys!

$300 to $400.
Parts are around surplus. The only real noticeable difference between that M416 and the more correct for your M38A1 M100 are the squared vs round fenders, the wider body on the 416 and the hand brake handle type. The trailer was designed to match the M151 track and width and uses the M151 wheels.
If you can get her for $400 or less you'll make out just fine and it will pull behind you M38A1 and look just fine.

Here's the late (April 1972) M100 service/parts manual.
http://www.ih8mud.com/tech/pdf/trailer/m100-m115.pdf
There are also a 1950 Maintenance Manual and a 1951 Parts manual.
$200 is a steel for an M100 that you can tow home that has an uncut tub and the correct lunette and landing leg still on the front.

Yeah, that 416 has seen some use - I'd say $250 or $300 tops. It would take a lot of work to get it back to decent shape. Or just wait for a better one to show up for $400 or so. Just my $.02 - after all the work on my 'a1, I'm kindof burnt out on restoring stuff right now!
