Inspected field initials

Post by Bretto »

What would be a good set of initials to stamp on the serial data plate's inspected field on the dash? I have seen a few but wanted to get your opinion.
My serial # is MC29199 and I assume, by looking at the serial # data base, that would be a DOD of 8/51. This is also the year on my title.
thanks,
Brett

Initials

Post by timjuhl »

My understanding is that many of the M38's and M38A1's of that period were inspected by EPM. That is the stamp on my Oct 52 M38A1 and I read a post on G503 where EPM was stamped on the plate from a March 51 M38.

I believe the EPM refers to E P Martz, the Govt inspector at Willys Overland at that time.

Hope that helps...

mine is 22936, (6-52 ) and the inspector stamp is the crossed cannons to the left of the box and an M blank H (cant read the middle letter) stamped at a 45* angle.

I stamped it 'MJH' from a picture I saw. That's probably what yours is Ken.
