M38C questions

Post by Claudio »

Hi, may I have your attention to this: would like info and photos of M38C modifications from the regular M38 version. Pics and other infos of extra rear springs and bracketry? were these furnished as kits for conversion?
Thanks, regards.

They were converted to M38A1C's at Depots and in the field. In each case a kit was used for the conversion. Take a look at my photo album.

Thank you again Wes. From which Manual (you've meant MWO) was the page showing spare tire and jerry can relocation taken of?
Interesting would also be the details of bracketry for supporting the extra coil spring, so as info of quantity of extra semi-heliptical springs? Thanks!

I see I misunderstood your question. The correct answer should be:

The US Army only experimented with that conversion on the M38. It was a very short lived test program. I have never seen any written material on the necessary modifications.

The Canadian Army on the other hand appear to have produced quite a few of the M38C. Perhaps one of our Canadian members could help out?
