The radiator shop is the place to get the leak fixed. They will submerge it in a water tank and apply about 2 PSI to it and mark then repair the leaks then you can move on to getting her on the road.

I aggree with John Tank renu is the way to go. The tank in my m38 was done that way and I have not had a problem with it in over 7 years. I also know others that use it have not had a problem for close to 20 years. I have never heard of anyone have a problem with tank renu at all.
The tank in my m38 looks as good today as they day I got it back from being coated.

After 45 years of professional mechaniking I can assure everyone for every tank interior coating success story there is also a failure story. As I have already said the failures seldom occur on the original coater's watch but to follow-on owners who do not have any way to use any warranty or just aren't aware of when and how long ago it was done.

Wes find me proof of tank renu coating not working? As I have said I have known many people who have used it and it is still going strong. I have never heard of anybody have a problem with it. Your years of experience mean nothing to me as that is the line you use every time something comes up like this but you never back it up with hard evidence. I have plenty of evidence that it does work but I have yet to see any that it doesn't work. I am not talking about the do-it yourself kits. I am talking about the professionally applied coating.
The people I know are not only in the car restoring hobby but also in over the road trucking and logging business that have used tank renu with great success. If it can work on a skidder than it will work just fine in my little jeep, and the guys I know are very frugal and keep equipment a lot longer than 10 years.

No need to get nasty there Billy. I didn't ask you to back up your statement (and you didn't) and I am not going back thru all my shop invoices just to show you copies that re-clean & strip Runu coated tanks. You've posted your opinion and I have posted mine.
And the next time you want to say

Just pack your butt off to my photo album and review just how much stuff I have backed up with hard evidence and if you like try comparing it to the quantity of hard evidence you have produced on this web site in the last 10 years just throw the copies of all your evidence up here!Your years of experience mean nothing to me as that is the line you use every time something comes up like this but you never back it up with hard evidence.

What I am talking about is this type of thing. Where you say a product is no good but you really have no proof. I have plenty of proof that it is a good product and helps to save old tanks. It saved the one in my m38 just fine. Like I said I know lots of guys who use it with tanks to go on equipment that they depend on to make a living everyday and they have never had a problem.
yes the info you supply is for the most part very valuable to people restoring m38's. However when It comes to this sort of thing I think your opinion is outdated and not correct. Maybe some of the early professionally applied coatings had trouble or maybe it was the person who did the work did not prep it correctly however today they do not cause any issues. $&% it was a professional autobody/mechanic/ Edsel restorer that told me where to send my tank when I brought it to him to see what he thought. When you have Midwest military even standing behind the product that should tell you something.
This is not our first go around and probably wont be our last.

And you won't get the last word here as well. You insult me and then call me outdated. We have both offered our opinions on this topic and as opinions they need no legal documentation. I did not call you or John to task to support your opinions and John did not call me to task to support my opinion yet you feel a need to direct me to produce evidence for your benefit and you offer no evidence of your own. Try and listen to yourself.
I am a professional mechanic and have been since 1962. When I say I have seen and repaired many tanks with those type coatings that is exactly what I have seen and done. I will not tolerate anyone calling me a liar, especially in a public forum and leave their insult lie.
I believe you honestly have seen tanks with coatings survive 7 years or more. I don't question your integrity but as I have posted they all do not last that long. My statement does not insult you or paint you as a liar. Why exactly you feel a need to do that to me here is not understandable at all.
With that said I will lock this post to keep this thread from deteriorating any lower then you have caused it to already.
