I just read your Oct 2012 post of the video http://www.willysmjeeps.com/v2/modules. ... on+bearing and noticed Wes said you missed the snap ring on the outside race groove. By your video it looks like you did not. Did you miss it?
I am getting ready to pull my transmission and replace the front bearing with a sealed bearing. I have never tried to replace just the bearing. I have though successfully rebuilt 2 transmissions. Have you replaced just the front bearing or do you or anyone see a problem with me doing that?
Thanks for your input,
Bob

I was able to replace just the front bearing without tearing the tranny apart. Without re-typing everything, go check out my link on installing my sealed bearing.

Bob said, wes said:
Yarder said in the original post:and noticed Wes said you missed the snap ring on the outside race groove.
Wes said in response to Yarder's statement above (not in response to his video):There was nothing in the Military manual about putting the snap ring in, and I got one with the rebuild kit, so I didn't install the snap ring on the main input bearing.
The snap ring needs to be on that front bearing.

thanks, but in the Yarder's video it looks like the snap ring is in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxvNyW42 ... e=youtu.be
I don't mean to waste your time. I would never leave the snap ring out as I understand the purpose but thought I was missing something in his video.
Thanks,

No problem. The point I am making is I always try to make sure if I quote someone I use what he actually said in the actual context. I never viewed his video. He said he did not put the snap ring in and in the next post to that thread I said he must put it in.
It was obvious I think if you read the thread thru that he went back and installed the snap ring and corrected the video.
