So thanks to RickG, I got some work to do, thanks buddy. I can't remember the story you told me about these anyway. Where did they come from?
So onto my question on these bows. I assume they should be straight across the top and not arched. My main question is, should they be the same exact length when they are folded together?
Someone thought the main bar needed to be shorter so I need to lengthen it back up.

Nope, I think that if I just make the main bow the same length as the folding one as OKCM38CDN makes mention of, I should be good.
I am amazed that I can get a 20' stick of tube for $13. I will be picking that up next week. It should ride nicely on the roof of my car
If i remember the folding bow was not cut so you have a lot to work with.
The hinges were un-bubba'd as well. Where did it come from?? It was
in the back of the M-38 along with my straight set when i brought the
jeep home so my brother Bob musta picked it up somewhere along the way..

I plan on cutting out the top sections of each bow instead of trying to straighten them. Then lengthening the sides of the shortened bow. Since I have good hinges and curves to build on,it should a fairly straight forward fix adding in new straght stock.
Just looked at mine on the A1 and the tops are even and straight across.
Funny, just got done with mine also. I had to weld up some rust pin holes and the hinge. Ran phosphoric acid through the inside of the tubing then welded it up.
Really a pretty basic part and structurally doesn't have to be perfect. As long as the hinges are good, weld in some new sections and it will work great.
