M38 drivers seat

Post by Bo »

I unbolted drivers seat today to inspect top of fuel tank. When I went to bolt it back I fastened left rear foot then right front foot. I noticed the right rear foot was 1/2" from touching floor. If I push it down to contact floor the back of seat contacts tank. What is wrong here?

Did you move the tank for the inspection?

Yes. The last owner installed a new tank without anything between floor and tank.

Then the tank is too high. The original strips of rubber were very thin.

Do you no the proper height of the tank. The two feet I bolted first aloud for proper clearance. I,m thinking the third leg was improperly repaired.

My old original tank is about 7-5/8" tall.

I just threw a tape on mine and get 7-5/8 also. Even with 1/8"
anti squeak the clearance between my tank and seat is minimal.
