I recently purchased an end (?) to put on my 7' whip, two way antenna.
Strange looking dauber! Pear shaped with a hole about 5/16", much larger than the antenna. Inside there is a star looking affair with a small hole in the center and eight arms. I called the supplier and ask about mounting, but; he didn't know, said he would check and call me yesterday, no call, oh well!
Has anyone seen this part described above. Thanks!

I just bought the wrong one for my antenna too. There is a small and a large - meaning small hole and large hole. I cut my antenna off to work with my cb, but the diameter at the cutoff was still much smaller than the hole of the large antenna tip I ordered - oh well, I'll try to find the right one at the rally next week.

The antenna tips are meant to be taped to the antennas...
Use a figure 8 pattern going around the antenna and the tip...
that should hold it in place...

I was wondering if it was a press fit or what. Do you have a pic - I can picture what you are saying, but a pic is worth a thousand words (or so they say).

If you get the correct sized tip, you don't need to tape it on. That is what the star shaped inner is for. It should be smaller than the antenna you are inserting and will spread open to use it's tension to hold the tip on the antenna. The large tips work for the fiberglass antennas like the AS-1729 sets where the small tip fits the metal antennas like the MS-116 - 118 sets.
