between the oil Korean war era rope style seal, and the newer one? This is what L&M engines told me:
"We used our WWII/Korean rear main rope style seal, as that is all we are currently aware of.
5 years or so ago, the seal manufacturer had 500,000 2 piece lip seals in stock and all were damaged.
This came about from us investigating the source as all the seals we obtained from all the seal vendors were damaged."
