I’m trying to help a gentleman with a 1950 CJ-V35/U identify his markings.
I know I have seen the shield before but cannot remember where.
So… a little help here.
Serial # 10670
Hood #162760
1944 MB-NAVY-
MZ-1

What is the markings in the second and third pictures? Usually something like the shield would have a number in it for a particular unit. The Navy registration number on this jeep would be 94-XXXXX, the numbering system the Navy switched to in 1950.
Interesting blue paint, I drove a Navy M38 the same color.

Black Dog came up with a possible ID:
3rd LVT Batallion USMC
I never did hear of the final word. Over on the G503 the thread broke down into the paint color BLACK HOLE and the answer never resurfaced.

USMC is cerainly possible but I don't have the number system worked out for their jeeps.
