Lookin for a part....

Post by idiocrates »

I did a kind of a dumb thing. I was disassembling my head light buckets so I could remove the old paint and spiffy up the entire assembly. Only problem is after removing the retaining springs on the service headlight doors the gaskets (part 7375024 in the M38 parts list) which were all dried out and crumbly just fell to pieces. Does anyone know if these gaskets are still available or know of a ready modern day replacement for them? Surprisingly I didn't loose a single retaining spring and these little devils are still as viable as the day they were born.

There is NOS out there. I replaced mine on my M38A1 - try John at Midwest Military, Brent Mullins or Peter DeBella to name a few possibilities.

I got a pair from George at Army Jeep Parts; they arrived this week, still in the original packaging.
