M38 Oil Pressure Gauge Issue

Post by Bez »

Hi,

I just had the oil pressure gauge replaced in my 1951 M38. It had an non-original oil fed pressure gauge, and I switched it back to electronic (repro). It works perfectly, but the gauge fogs up when I drive the jeep. The other gauges are fine. Any thoughts?

Thanks Much!

Fogging of the lens inside the gauge is a result of poor sealing of the gauge case. Common issue with poorly made repops. Only cure would be replacement or attempt to dry it out and seal the case.

Thanks Wes.. That makes perfect sense. I took it back off, and attempted to seal it with J-Lar tape, but it continued to fog up. I'll just switch it out for an NOS gauge.
