What are these?

Post by Silverback2w2 »

These two items I have no clue on, I can't seem to find them in the ORD.

First, behind the drivers seat:

And this next to the passenger seat. One cable is cut, the other goes to ground inside the toolbox on a seat hinge bolt.

not sure on the bracket, but on the passenger side if you refer to the plug down there it is for radio gear.

Hello
The bracket behind the drivers seat is for the external radio speaker LS-166/U. Hope this helps good luck on your project.

Not interested in making my a1 a radio jeep. Any idea what I should ask for these parts when I sell them?

I believe M38A1's were delivered with the radio power plug as standard equipment even if the vehicle did not have a radio. The speaker bracket has minimal value - less than $10? Somebody will find it useful tho.

They came with the plug bracket only. The plug and harness was installed in the field when a radio set-up was installed.

My M38 has a radio plug that looks like it has been there since the jeep was built and Ryan's book mentions it as standard equipment. The M38A1 also has a plug (and a radio) but that may have been added by the PO. The military did trim several accessories off of later verions of both jeeps.

Silverback2w2 do you still have the external speaker bracket? Need one for my M38. Let me know.
