Serial # plate
Does the serial # plate behind the passenger seat have black paint on it like the dash data plates or is it metal with #s stamped in it? What is the best way to clean it without ruining it?

It's etched and there were both black and white backgrounds over the years. Brake fluid DOT 3 will lift heavy coats of overspray right off.

These plates I assume were installed at the factory. Would they have arrived at the unit painted over with OD paint or not painted over?

WO paint line. Tubs are seen hanging on a chain drive conveyor
running thru the processes meaning they were painted before assy.
Surely the plates were added later in assy (after paint). My 2c.
