'Oilleakers M38 is fighting him!
Symptom: Idles well, plenty of power, tries to die just off idle when given the gas. Some missing also until full throttle. With it all the way to floor, it runs well. Here's what I've checked: vacuum at manifold only is a solid 16 on my old gauge. Strobed the timing and it's right on and advancing. No fuel or vacuum leaks, never runs out of fuel. The Carter YS was kitted by me and since then I've played with the two springs trying to get response. It runs worse (terrible) with the stock accelerator pump spring in it. I've put a lightened spring in there which helps some. I'm getting the picture that the vacuum circuit has something wrong which is not actuating the metering rod and accelerator pump as it should. Any ideas? I was thinking it has to come all apart again and I'll try and figure out why the vacuum seems too low. The base has a port that even when cinched down on the base insulator, has a cutout raised above so vacuum still gets in there. I'm all ears , hit me!
John PS ( I've already pulled the fender and re-checked all valves. They are all still .016)
