M38 top bow pivot bracket Through-hole

Post by Claudio »

Can any one of you measure the diameter of the through-hole on the M38 jeep upper rear panel that enables tightening of top bow thumbscrew? From pictures I can suppose the diameter measures 1 inch, or maybe more than that. I am abroad at the moment so i have no means to measure it in my own jeep. HELP????? The purpose of the question is that I would like to purchase a plug to close that hole, so I need the exact diameter of the hole. Sorry guys, this huge explanation is a clear evidence of my poor english. Claudio, Florianopolis, Brazil

1 1/8"
Can't you just make a plug out of some 18g sheet? It doesn't have to be exact, the weld will fill any voids. I bet most of us will be curious as to why you want to plug it up?

Thanks for the measurement Bretto. There is one gentleman on ebay selling these plugs for a reasonable price. This plug will be used to close one of the two on the M38 top bow pivot bracket though-holes. The jeep I am currently restoring is an M38c, the one that carries the 106mm RR. Since most of the original bracketry is removed to place the RR, I am going crazy to find one of the missing plugs to be closed. I expect to post pictures on this website soon. The resto is almost ending, what was supposed to be my 2013 project, will be postponed to 2014. Thanks so much, I appreciate your kind attention. Claudio, Florianopolis, Brazil
