Hello Bob,

You can put several photos in one post. I moved all 4 of your photos to your first post and deleted the next four posts.

An adequate ID can be made from the lower right dash plate between the instrument cluster and the glove box. There is also a Willys patent plate on the front vertical surface of the right rear wheel house behind the passenger seat.

I'll email you a survey form to fill out and email back to me. Carefully remove each layer of paint on the hood sides, the lower front side of the windshield, the front & rear bumpers to see any old markings.

I have several hundred technical photos in my album here on our web site. Please use them.

I have an M38 ID guide photo set as a sub-album there as well:

I looks like a pretty complete unmolested unit. Congratulations. What's your plan of action for it? Curious, how much did you have to fork over for it?

Great find! You can already see the hood # on the drivers side. If they painted over it at one time, I've exposed the #'s by carefully using a scotchbright pad. The unit # if there, will be on the front bumper passenger side. Usually the hardest to find or read. Would love to see under the hood. The M38A1 in the background would be a good grab too! Thanks for sharing your find. John

See what the engine # is on top behind the waterpump. Usually stamped on the block surface that protrudes where the head gasket is. Original should be MC XXXXXXX or RMCXXXXXXX ( replacement ) or possibly 4LR XXXXX. The lifting ring mounts indicate later production along with the removeable one piece data plate. There should be a 3 inch hole in the dash behind the dataplate . Sure looks untouched. "Treasure". John

The MD fenderwell tag is wrong. Should be MC and matching your dash vin. I think you should go back and buy all three. What a honey hole you found there! I suppose you put in batteries and drove it home now! John

Is the "MD" data plate on the M38? If so, that is the wrong plate. M38s are "MC".
