Bob,

Take a look in my photo album. I have several hundred technical photos there that cover 95% of questions and troubles introduced to this board.

In the winch case try my winch album:
http://www.willysmjeeps.com/v2/modules. ... _album.php

The Ramsey 50 is a military 3500 Lb winch and the Ramsey 50R is a military 5000 Lb winch. They are very similar in appearance and both fit the same winch mounting bracket. They were built by Ramsey for the military under a MilSpec. Same goes for the 105 Ramsey PTO. They are made to fit the M38's front winch mount frame and the M38's exhaust system.

If you go with a civvy winch/PTO then which winch/PTO you use will dictate how many modifications and what type mods you will have to make to the jeep or the winch/PTO setup.

The most common substitution is the Ramsey 200 series winch and the longer Ramsey civilian PTO. Both will need help fitting the M38. The 200 series Ramsey does not fit the stock M38 winch mounting bracket. You must fabricate your own.
