New M38A1 resto pics

Post by wilfreeman »

Hi all,

I finally got my pictures uploaded to my Yahoo album. I got around to rebuilding my trans and transfer case this weekend also. When I pulled the first bolt joining the two, about a quart of water came out - I knew they were ruined! To my amazement, there was only a couple of rust spots on a few gears. Nothing major - all the teeth ans synchros looked good, no large amounts of play either. cleaned everything up, changed out the seals and gaskets, and put everything back together. Now if I could only get that 1 piston free in the engine, I could finish up the drivetrain! I will be taking the body to my brother's shop this week for final body and metal work. I guess next week I will be pulling the axles and springs for checking/rebuild, then paint the frame. Here's the link to my Yahoo page - also have pics of th 2000 Helen on Wheels MV show.
Sorry if you've seen this post on one of the other forums.
