So, I went to install the marine rear bumper reinforcement

Post by Deadguy »

and I noticed the present rear bumper is welded to the frame. I did some research, and didn't see if this was normal or not, but apparently the marine reinforcement was welded in place and then bolted. Anybody have any suggestions?

The original bumper is welded at the point of contact with the pintle plate on the chassis as far as I know. Then the USMC reinforcement frame member is slipped over the original. Then everything is bolted back up.

I checked my jeep with the USMC lifting hooks and it does not appear to be welded... if it is welded in place the hardware currently installed is covering the welding.
