Hurricane Engine ID

Post by Luis »

Hi Fellows
These photos were actually sent from Vietnan..
Seem to be NOS engines..
I thought you might be m606 / M606A2 jeeps, but the spark plug cable support on valve cover is something strange....

The pics...

Any idea about these engines are welcome!

Thanks in advance!

They appear more to be depot rebuilt engines.

That wire bracket is not a lot like the correct 3B bracket up through the 60's. See my 60 CJ3B engine below.

The plug wire brackets in your photos have a very large extension on the front for possibly a different throttle and choke hookup.

i stand corrected. Looked fast at the cable clamp and just saw the part with the cables and didn't look at the whole bracket! Valve cover part not cj3B. Something to do with choke and throttle cables,or throttle linkage????

I would like to sell my Jeep M38-A1 / CJ-5 Hurricane engine.
The engine was factory overhauled about 30 years ago and since than never used.
It was always stored at a dry place, all holes covered with tape.
You can turn the crankshaft by hand till top dead center, than maybe further with a tool - but I did not try.
There is a Carter YF Carburetor and a Prestolite AD 4041 4E Distributor installed.

Engine No.: 807895

The engine is lokated in Central-Germany near Frankfurt and must be picked up, or shipping should be arranged by purchaser.
