A week or two back I changed the oil and filter, replaced the belt and battery, and finally yesterday I pulled the plugs and put a few drops of Marvel Mystery oil into the plug holes. Today I pulled the gas line off the CJ tank and dropped it into a plastic gas can, dribbled a few drops down the carb, and cranked her over. After a couple of cranks she would up and settled into a decent idle. Nice feeling.
I decided I'd only run her for a few minutes, but after the initial euphoria wore off I decided I'd try and put her into gear. You can shift when the engine is off, but running when I put the clutch in it make some noise, and I was not able to put it into gear. I then tried putting the transfer case levers into gear with the same result. Finally after a few minutes of messing with the levers I was able to shift the transmission into first and second, but after releasing the clutch nothing happened. I did confirm the clutch pedal was moving the lever to the housing.
Anybody want to take a swing at this? First or second place to start looking?
Tks,
Brian
