Oil pump: cast iron vs. aluminum

Post by BCA »

Early M38's had an aluminum body oil pump and then changed to cast iron oil pump. I assume they are interchangeable for any jeep engine with a gear-driven camshaft. Any comments on the reliability or durability of AL vs. CI pumps? ......... Brian

The two obvious issues are wear and corrosion. Same went for the original aluminum master cylinders.
