Hi all my last post was about an m38 with several issues we covered and you all were a great help.
Today I went and looked at a cj2a from "she said" 1946. The lady that owns it said that her dad was a jeep dealer when this cj2a was new. he had sold and gotten it back in trade 3 times and decided to keep it after the last trade. They took it to the farm and his kids learned to drive in the pastures with it. He also used it as a farm vehicle for checking on his cows. It remained at the farm until he passed away leaving it to his daughter. She decided to clean it up and make it look and run good again. The jeep was at another shop for almost 2 years and the owner paid this guy to make it road worthy. When they took it to him it was assembled and painted, when they took it back this guy had disassembled it and parts were missing. It is sitting in their barn and has been for several years. So here I am with questions.
My questions for today are was this a 6 or 12 volt (no battery on jeep) and where do I find the vin and year model?
I want to here the engine run before anything else is done and I can see no markings on the generator or starter that indicate battery voltage and the voltage regulator must be missing or in one of the boxes.
This is a wee bit off topic for the Willys military jeep board and I moved you here to technical since you are asking for technical replies and this is not an M38/M38A1/CJV35/M606?M170 type project.
There are other websites that specialize in civilian jeeps although there are many similarities between the early CJ's and M-series jeeps. You could also pay a visit to www.G503.com - there is a section for your jeep there.
Check the bulbs, the number cross reference should tell you the voltage!
