M38A1 AC fuel pump rebuild question (using Then and Now kit)

Post by nwarcade »

Hi all,
I'm just wrapping up installing the fuel pump rebuild kit I obtained from Then and Now automotive and had one question. There is a valve in the center section of the pump that seems to sit very high when the paper gasket is installed. I noticed there is no gasket shown in the exploded diagram and I assume this valve would be sealed by the diaphragm. Is this correct?

Thanks All

Call Then and Now. They rebuilt my M38's gas/vacuum pump for me and its been working great for several years now. They know what is what.

Looking at the parts manual it appears there are not a gasket for every valve. Take a look and do a count yourself. Did you read thru the TM 9-1828A exerpts on this fuel pump on our downloads page?

I recently used the Then and Now kit to rebuild my M38 AC fuel pump. I did not use a gasket for that valve in the centre. The diaphragm is the seal for that valve. The fuel pump works great now😀
