Marker Light rebuild

Post by Festus »

Rather than replacing my front marker lights (cat eyes) I'd like to rebuild them... the housing, doors, lens, plugs, and supports can all be reused but the connector assemblies are shot... suggestions as to a source to replace
this part of the light? (24 volt system)

Hi Ken,
Several vendors sell repair kits, and you can use aftermarket
parts from the auto parts stores for the basic assemblies if
you want.

That's my question actually... who are the vendors who sell repair kits... I've found several who offer the complete marker light, or doors, lens, but not just the connector assembly and I haven't a repair kit... or if anyone else replaced the light connector assembly with an aftermarket part from an auto part supplier - what did they use.

Your question has been asked many times here. If you google marker lights or use our own search function and query "marker lights" and specify "technical forum" you will get dozens of the early answers.

https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=m3 ... ker+lights

http://www.willysmjeeps.com/v2/modules. ... de=results

or google: m38 blackout marker lamp parts

To find vendors just go to our web site links page and pull up vendors:

There are 3 pages of vendor contact info.

Thanks for the list Wes.

Short version:
Saturn Surplus or,

Take the guts to Oreilly or Autozone or Napa and just surf the
aisles.

If you aren't wanting to go to two wire turn signals it is
very easy to replace the wire, spring and terminal.

I didn't see any front marker light repair kits at Saturn. They have several for the larger light assemblies.

Thanks for the responses.... the first thing I always do is a Google and forum search. Unfortunately most of the discussions had to do with turn signal conversion, lenses, doors, etc, rather than the connector. I always try doing my homework :)

I have been told many times that vendors like Saturn
have infinitely more inventory than what is shown on their
websites. A phone call would confirm.

Ken, if the bulb housing is good and all you need are the terminal
grommet and spring, you can buy those in pigtail form
at the auto parts stores. In the post below you'll see a two wire
setup, but the single wire is identical just only one wire.
