I need to know if the 1952 m38a1 has support rods for the grill?

I would have thought they were standard on all M38A1's but this
post mentions they were added after going to the fixed grill
in 1953.

See if you have the mounting holes/brackets. Unless you are doing
a factory resto I'd install them if it was me.
Just my two cents.

When this topic comes up (over and over by the way) you need to clarify which rods. The lower rods between the front engine mounts and the lower sides of the radiator have an early and late version and were used on all.
The upper rods were introduced at MD SN 60406 (Oct 53). This info is not tough to find. Just open your ORD 9 G-758 M38A1 parts manual up to page 107 cooling system and read. Whenever you want to know what serial or year a feature started the first place to look for the answer is in the parts manual.
If you are discussing the upper and you decide to add them to a 52 or Jan through Oct 53 be sure to see if you have the cowl and grill air deflector mounting provisions.
If you are one of those folks that enjoys tripping through a rebuild not using any manuals then you will spend more than half of your hobby time here on the internet instead of in your shop enjoying your hobby. The manuals are free and you can download them in PDF format from our downloads page: http://www.willysmjeeps.com/v2/modules. ... oad&cid=60
