m38a1 gas tanks

Post by Shug4 »

This question is for Wes. I posted this on a couple of other sites too. I have two m38a1 gas tanks from a 52 m38a1 and both are different on the top. One has a big circle with two tubes coming from it. One is fuel and the other one is for the vent. Then it has a wire to another plug in on it. The other tank just has one small round piece with a fuel tube off of it and another one for the electrical wire.I posted both pictures on the m38a1 and w illys m38a1 sites on Facebook because I am having trouble posting pictures on this site. One tank is from a marine corps m38a1 and the other one is from a regular m38a1 both are 52.

Without photos your description is not adequate to be positive but I suspect you simply have an early fording system equipped tank and a later non-fording equipped tank. The basic fuel tanks are exactly the same. Only the location of two holes in the top of the tank and the attached plumbing differs. Senders (the part with the wire are identical. It is the fuel pickup tube/vent system attachment that differs.

I do not understand your issue with posting photos here. It is just as simple as the other sites you said you posted photos to except this older version of the web site phorum programs does not allow loading a photo from your computer directly to the post. You must first load your photos to a host web site that allows access without using a password then you simply link that photos URL to your post here.
