Merry Christmas everyone! Is this radio set up of the m38 era or newer? Also if it works what would be a reasonable price? Thanks john jr

VRC22 will work for 1950, 60's & 70's infantry units. VRQ1, 2, 3 was better suited to the M38 as would have been VRC8, 9, 10 to both the M38 & M38A1. VRC-12 was more common to the M38A1 / M151. For a functioning unit I have seen prices up around $500 to $800.

The weight on those old radios is a lot. If the look was all you wanted I would stick with the VRQ-1, 2, 3 or the VRC-8, 9, 10 which only only use one RT (receiver/transmitter), one PS (power supply) and one control box. Even these units with their 299 mount tray weigh in over 125 lbs. These were mounted on the left wheel house so you can keep your back seat. Most of the larger sets used a wide mount that replaced the rear seat. These can be found a lot cheaper if you shop for the MT-299 mount, RT-66, 67 or 68 and the PP-112 (power supply) separately non-operational. They run $25 to $75 each that way. With these units I prefer mounting them on the right wheel house which balances the jeep better.
