M38a1 Manual Lockers ?

Post by Saberr »

So i have the 64 mc m38a1 with the front/back posi. The last owner put warren manual lockers on the front. Is there any reason to keep them, or should i go back to the original flange ? I don't really know enough to see a big enough reason to keep them. From my limited knowledge the posi is already doing the manual lockers job, except the manuals can free gearing for higher speed travel on roads. I do plan to trail drive it and semi - daily driver, not a trailer queen.

Keep the manually locking hubs. The posi does not do the manual locking hub's job at all. The posi's simply provides drive to both wheels even if one has a tendency to slip on slippery roads. The job of the manual locking hubs is to eliminate the rolling resistance of the front differential by separating the rolling resistance of the axle from both front wheels. That's why these hubs are often called free wheeling hubs.
