Seized Slave Receptacle

Post by Hawkshadow »

The cap on my slave receptacle is stubbornly seized in place. I've tried penetrating oil, moderate heat, and leverage while clamped in a vice to no avail. I know it's a long shot, but does anyone have any ideas?

Failing that, can I get the cables out of this receptacle to put in a new one without it open?

Thanks,
Jordan

Jordan,
Have you tried tightening just a hair?

Sometimes all it takes is for it to move, and it may only move initially to tighten. All you want is for it to budge. Then I'd do penetrating oil again, leave overnight, and try loosening. Rinse, and repeat.

Those metal to metal connectors depending on what they are made of can get a little corrosion that works as good as a decent solder job!

Good luck!

You will need the front cap off if you have to remove the rubber insert. It comes out the front. Use the appropriate chapter of TM 9-1825E Bendix component manual. The manual is in our downloads sections in two parts. Chapter 4 for the early light switch and chapter 5 for the connectors.

I downloaded Chapter four no problem as it's pdf format.
However chapter five requires drop box.
Don't do drop box so any way I can download and save?
Thanks

The drop box is a public file and is also PDF. It opens on line and then you click the top right little box with 3 dots and then click "Download".
