Radiator Shroud Color

Can anyone confirm the original color of the M38 fan shroud? I have read two informal items that identify them as OD. However, most of the restorations I have seen have them as black. Black may be more logical since the shroud was soldered to the radiator. Beyond that I have not found anything with an official record on this. Thank you for any feedback! John R.

their black, along with most other bolt on items under the hood
