M38A1 Vacuum Wiper Hose Question

Post by w30bob »

Hi Guys,

The vacuum wiper hose listed in the ORD as 33-T-233 doesn't mention what it actually looks like, and I'm going thru pubs now trying to find a good pic without much success. I've seen 7/32 ID vacuum hose with a smooth rubber exterior and also where you can see the reinforcing fibers under the outer layer of rubber. Which type is "correct"? I know it's a silly detail, but if I have to buy the hose anyway......I might as well get the right stuff.

thanks,
bob

I know this isn't exact, but just get the correct diameter black rubber hose from local hardware store. There is nothing special about it, just a thick pure rubber hose, no reinforcing, a slight ribbing on original, but only notice if you happens to catch just right in sun or spill a different liquid on it, and the ribbing is only on one side.

Use caution when you buy the hose, I ordered a roll of fresh hose from ebay, and it disintegrated in 4 months. I ended up using NOS hose from the 70's, which has lasted over a year now with no deterioration at all.
