F134 owners - head bolt washers

I need a favor. I am in the throes of replacing my cylinder head gasket. The TM indicates that there should be a washer associated with every head bolt. On my F134 only two of the 15 head bolts had washers (ie, the two head bolts for the lifting hook).

Could you do me a favor and pop the hood of your jeep and let me know if the head bolts that you can easily see have washers?

You need 11 washers (8329680 / 103342) for the 15 bolts.
The washers are not under all of the bolts.
Where the green marks are, you have to install washers, where the red stars not.
At the rear of the liftinghook, the washer comes under the hook, to accord the difference from the oil filter canister bracket.

Your reply is very impressive. I have 2 questions for you. (1) What is the tool in the foreground of the first photo? (assuming it is a tool) and (2) what paint color (Brand and ID) did you paint the engine?

I was going to mention that tool. It is rarely seen in shops today. I have a couple. They are a strap wrench.

Wes is right, it´s a strap spanner tool.
Found it many years ago at a DRMO scrap yard, didn´t know what it is,
but it was looking intresting, so I thought to take it with me.
Years later I figured out, what that tool it is working for too:
So, that work can be done yery easily.




The question of coulor.

At first, I take the same paint for the engine, than for the body and frame.
No special paint is needed.
Exept the exhaust manifold.

Here in europ (particular in Germany) it´s yery difficult to get the right OD paint for the M- Series Vehicles of the 50-60´s.
The Paint, you can buy from the dealers is very different to that you want to have.
So I try mixing the right shade by my self.
The mixture of OD 24087, I belive, is a top secret.
The only way ist to try, and try, and try once again.



Try and error, once again........
No.9 looks good.......

OD 24087 was not, and isnt always the same.



What will be the 100% right paint shade?

In my opinion:
All of them!

The european paint code RAL 6022 (Braunoliv) is the paint I use many years for my M-series vehicles.
It also comes yery close to what I belive is right for a Motor Pool restauration.
